AssaultBike Elite

AssaultBike Elite: the premium AirBike for a genuine studio feel at home

Imagine training every day as if you were in a pro studio, only you are at home: no plug, no electricity and with features that really take you to your limit. The AssaultBike Elite is the top model in the Assault range. Smooth running, ergonomic design and extended console functions turn your interval training into an experience. You decide everything: steady heart-rate training or brutal HIIT. Are you ready for the inferno?

On this page you will find out what sets the Elite apart from the other models, how the console works, which programmes there are, what assembly and care involve and who the bike is made for. You will find videos on assembly, a review and use further down.

The AssaultBike Elite at a glance

  • Dual-action system: pulling and pedalling for full-body training
  • Forward and backward pedalling for variety in leg work and coordination
  • Detachable console with high-resolution LCD, Bluetooth® and ANT+ and dedicated HIIT intervals
  • Large, comfortable seat with adjustable seat post for almost any body height
  • Removable wind guard, corrosion-resistant and robust construction
  • Assembly in about 30 to 45 minutes for one person

The premium model of the Assault range

The Elite is meant for everyone who wants the best: beginners, advanced users and hardcore athletes. It stands for a genuine studio feel with even more power and comfort. This is what makes the difference:

  • Stronger resistance for even harder intervals
  • Forward and backward pedalling for extra variety
  • Huge, comfortable seat
  • Removable wind guard
  • Dedicated HIIT programmes right on the console

Together this makes a bike that is ideal for intense intervals as well as for long cardio sessions.

Air resistance instead of a motor: how the Elite works

Like all AssaultBikes, the Elite works with air resistance. A large fan wheel creates the resistance: the harder you pedal, pull and push, the greater it becomes. It adapts automatically to your effort, and there are no levels. You decide the intensity with every movement.

The bike is 100% motorless and runs purely on your own power. It needs no cable and no socket and causes no electricity costs. The console shows you heart rate, time, distance, calories and watts live.

Dual action: full-body training with arms and legs

The dual-action system of pulling and pedalling makes the Elite a genuine full-body machine. You work arms and legs at the same time and so set a lot of muscle mass in motion, from beginner to pro.

  • Legs: pedalling works the thighs, glutes and calves
  • Arms and shoulders: pulling and pushing the arm handles works the biceps, triceps and shoulders
  • Core: at high intensity you stabilise your body, and the abs and back work as well
  • Cardiovascular system: a lot of muscle at work drives up heart rate and breathing

A special feature of the Elite is forward and backward pedalling. It adds extra variety for legs and coordination to your training. The training is easy on the joints, and the intensity can be chosen freely from easy to maximum.

Elite console: your personal coach

The detachable console with a high-resolution LCD screen and Bluetooth® and ANT+ connectivity shows you everything live. You connect your heart rate strap or your smartphone in seconds and track heart rate, time, distance, calories and watts.

These programmes are available for your training:

  • Quick start: just get going
  • Dedicated HIIT intervals: right on the console, just like in the studio
  • Target programmes: training by time, distance, calories or heart rate
  • Forward/backward mode: extra variety for legs and coordination

Whether steady heart-rate training or high-intensity intervals, the almost limitless adjustability of the Elite lets you choose.

Workouts for the AssaultBike Elite

If you have never trained on an AirBike before, start slowly. At the beginning you will only last a few seconds or minutes, depending on the intensity. Increase duration and intensity step by step.

WorkoutStructureGoal
Beginner intervals8 rounds of 20 seconds at a brisk pace, then 60 seconds of easy pedallingGetting used to high intensity
Classic HIIT10 rounds of 30 seconds all out, then 60 to 90 seconds of active recoveryMuscular endurance and calorie burn
Base endurance20 to 40 minutes at a steady, moderate pace, for example by heart rateEndurance and recovery
Leg variationAlternate between pedalling forward and backward between the intervalsCoordination and varied leg work

Two to three sessions a week of 15 to 30 minutes are enough to start with. Allow enough recovery between intense sessions. The figures are guideline values for healthy people: adjust duration and intensity to your level and get medical advice first if you have any pre-existing conditions. For more structure at the start, see the article Getting started with fitness: the perfect training plan for beginners. For short sessions, the article Training when you're short on time: efficient workouts with Assault equipment is worth a look.

Comfort, stability and adjustability

The Elite is extremely stable, easy to move and easy on the joints. The adjustable seat post fits almost any body height, and the large seat provides comfort even in longer sessions. The bike is low-maintenance and ready for daily use, at home as well as in the studio.

The robust, corrosion-resistant construction keeps the bike fit for years. Because it needs no electricity, you can put it wherever you have room. You will find ideas for your home gym in the article Setting up a home gym: equipment and kit for maximum performance.

Assembly, maintenance and video

Assembly is clearly described and takes about 30 to 45 minutes on your own. Everything is included, clear instructions come with it, and you will find further documents in the download area of the product page. This video shows how assembly works:

Care is minimal: after your first workout, retighten the screws once, then it is enough to check them from time to time. For more tips, see the expert guide to equipment care and safety. You will find suitable parts in the bike spare parts.

By Kevin on 2022-03-20

By Jana on 2021-11-12

Mein Ziel: Wenig Zeit investieren, dafür maximale Kraft-Ausdauer erreichen.

By Erik on 2020-10-12

By Julia Kostolany on 2020-10-10

By M on 2020-02-12

By Florian Weiß on 2019-09-14
